Abstract This research was carried out with focus on the multi-scale structure of meretrix lusoria shell. In mesoscopic, shell contains three layers; thickness different layers is 0.6mm, 0.8mm and 0.7mm respectively. Compared to mesoscopic structure, microstructure also has layers, it refers cuticle, prismatic layer nacre. The cuticle composed a great number particles, its main composition protein.The stagger structure. inner presents orthogonal-sheets arrangement. might show special enhanced effect for whole inorganic layers’ crystal same, which aragonite. mechanical properties Meretrix are excellent, elastic modulus same order magnitude high strength glass fiber composites. From this will provide theoretical basis designing producing bioinspired composite materials.
